Bait idea

Recommended Posts

Not totally new, but it works. Had an idea so I tested it. Its kinda a frankenstein with parts of lures here and there. I made some short wire spinners with #8 blade with a snap on the end similar to a bulldozer. I wanted some thing different than a bulldog because I wanted something a little more weedless. So I snapped on a Essox cobra 1.5 oz weedless jig with a 10 inch twister tail.

It looked awesome in the water. The big tail seemed to put out a thump. It can be slow rolled, burned and seperated then jigged deep. Color combos can be changed very easily. I did find out that the tail is more durable to teeth than bulldogs. Even being weedless single jig a treble can be added when cover changes. Just wanted to share another cross between blades and plastics.

Guys that make their own bucktails and leaders have the materials already. Heres what it looks like without the trailer hook but, I usually sink it in on the top side to stay away from weeds. Im not too sure how deep it would run trolling. Another plus with the trailer hook tucked in is that it doesnt foul up as much as a bulldog.
