12V/24V voltage range for batteries

Shorelunch

Question

I have two, two year old batteries running 24v for an 80 lb thrust Terrova. A month or so ago the trolling motor was running "funny" so I checked the batteries and there was corrosion on one of them from water seeping through the rod locker (1900 Pro-V). So I thoroughly cleaned the battery and connection terminals, put on some of that paint protectant and covered the terminals with the rubber covers.

I ran the batteries/trolling motor dead this past weekend fishing, so out of curiosity, I put a voltage meter to both of them. After about 12 hours on the charger, the battery that had the corrosion is .10 less than the other battery. I turned the trolling motor on and while running, the one battery was at 12.86 and the other at 12.96. Is this enough of a difference to re-investigate?

They're 12.93 and 12.98 when trolling motor is off, if it matters.

the numbers may not be the same depending on where exactly you checked the batteries and if there was any load or draw on the one. If they were mine, i would take them out, find the water leak, have the batteries load tested. A fully charged battery will be 12.66 volts per the interstate battery manual. 2.10 volts per cell x 6. Good luck
