I caught a whole mess of them. Only bad thing about was that it was on Red Lake. If you can call that bad. The walleye are defenitly getting bigger every year! I caught several in the 21"-24" range. Even though they can't be kept, it's nice to be able to catch quantitys of fish while jigging. Chequomegon Bay is like that for sm bass. You can't keep them, but you sure can catch them! It's a nice trade off, and great action for kids or inexperienced anglers.

MJ5, those are some nice fish. Were the fish on a good bite as far as numbers? Jigging or tip-ups? Were you trying for any other kinds of fish? I was just wondering how the fishing been comeing along. I'm itching for sum fitching. smile.gif......Sorry MJ5, I just read your post in the Crappie forum. Sounds like you guys had a blast!

We had a couple more pigs on that we lost at the hole and a couple smallers ones too. I brought one home to eat that was about 16 inches. A few jumbo perched mized in too. We only caught the tail end of the bite and if we were out about an hour or so earlier we would have caught a lot more fish. I would bet that a solid number of fish were using that area during feed time. Everything was caught from jigging. 1/8 oz spoons packed with maggots worked for me, that way I could pick up those roaming perch and for some reason the walleyes really liked those maggots. I had a few lookers with minnow heads but no takers, all came up on maggots. Just those little things, but it make all the difference in a days fishing.

Good Fishin,
Matt Johnson
