Recommended Posts

Too late I opened the darn thing.... cry And as far as I can tell I can't even use it until I-tunes is installed which isn't going to happen on a work machine. frown

I see they are fetching a pretty good price on gregslist and evilbay so that's a positive.

PM coming.

Definitely for sale....... you can't even use it until it's registered through Apple I-tunes and it won't work on my personal laptop with XP Pro because I don't have service pack 3...LOL

I just wanted to play with my prize for few minutes... grin

The didn't need the SSN this time just the money order they already had the SSN from previous prize winnings. smile

You should feel great about helping out those poor people over there!

On a serious note, I have always thought the iPads were cool and useful, but I can't justify the cost of them, especially with the 3G (monthly data plan). You should be able to make a nice profit on it.

All you have to do is download iTunes (which you will want anyways for updates and free/pay apps, among other things), install, give any e-mail you have access to and as soon as the device sees it is hooked up it will let you go forward into the pad. Unhook usb cable, uninstall iTunes and you will never have to do this again unless you reset the pad to out-of-box state.

There are other ways of doing it without iTunes but this is the easiest if you are just starting out.

You have to pay for the 3G data but if you just use WiFi it is free.

If you have a pc or know someone with iTunes installed, just hook up to that PC for 5 seconds and your in. wink

If it is not a Windows machine then most likely you just have to hook it up via the USB and it unlocks. I know it is a pain but more of a theft prevention feature than anything. Someone steals it they will have to hook up to a machine with iTunes and even if not connected to the net, it will send the serial and model and other related data when the machine is on-line next.

I would have figured the Droid had something like this with as much as they cost.

FYI, they are going locally online for:

Brand New in the Box.... iPad 2 Wi-Fi 3G 16GB Model # MC982LL/A

$500 Firm.

I figure this seller is a little unreal with an asking price of $500.00 & firm, but buyers have wil find this ad and should make selling your at a more realistic selling price much easier. wink Probably one of the China knock offs anyways as I get that feeling from this ad posting. I was expecting to see qty of 2 included at this jokers firm price. laugh

LOL.... Unrealistic? Joker? grin thats my add and I got $520. I had 16 E-Mails in the few hours the listing was on-line. I wish I had 10 of them iPads. I could have sold them all. I ended up meeting two women from Eden-Prairie at Dennys in Edina at 11:45PM after I got home from the fire works. grin

I'm in shock at the demand for these things. There is a guy in Eagan that's just PO-ed at me right now for taking a higher than asking price bid along with a few other disappointed Apple iPad searchers ....LOL.

Mine was 3G ATT@T and they go for 599 to 629 depending on FYI.

That's too darn funny!... grin

C"raigslist. But it was only on "july 3rd" from early afternoon until I deleted it just after midnight. smile

Had 4 more follow up E-Mails this morning and the add isn't active any longer. These Apple people are NUTS when it comes to there gadgets.

Straight Cash Homie! cool

LOL I have no clue what you had for tag words but I was searching "Asus Mother Boards" and yours was about 9 down. Figure I would take a look since it was new in the box to get feed back for resale here. Seen the fartmaster and laughed. So I created my post here.

Glad you sold it Gary as even for me, I have much better things to spend $500.00 on than an iPad. Although cool and would be neat to work and explore more closely but I have about 30-40 "tech" related "irons in the fire" at home I need to cross off before taking on any more that have a price tag attached to them. grin

Who ever bought Gary's was one of the lucky ones purchasing a legitimate Apple device. Every week, for each ipad for-sale ad posted there seems to be two "watch out, I got screwed/ripped off" ads posted for some reason.

People must just get too Apple Eye Goofy and not power the device up before the cash is handed over, much less look inside the box they are getting. I have seen ads posted from iPad never once powered up and no return calls of e-mails to they open the iPad box and there was a $50 e-book with an Apple sticker on it. Just an FYI because for some reason these con-artists are still having a good laugh and collecting cash from un-expecting Apple Guru's and it has been over a year since I saw my first "FYI" or "hindsight" posts related to the iPad.

Speaking of China I was a bit freaked out when I looked on the box and it was manufactured in China. That was one of the reasons I opened it. I was pretty certain my work had given me a legit one but you never know these days.

I thought opening it may have decreased the value as almost every inquiry wanted know if it was in a factory sealed box and not one of them was concerned a bit it was open already.

And up until this girl walked into the Dennys at close to midnight. I thought maybe I was being led on a wild goose chase. Her last text to me was "I'm here I'm wearing PINK basketball shorts and I'll be right in" LOL and lets just say these were 80's type of Basketball shorts as in short shorts!!!.

I figured for the extra $20 it was worth the risk and worse case scenario I get a cheap breakfast out of the deal...grin

I think the darmasterhd E-Mail was my orginal FM addy. I just use it for Gregs-list and other under the radar stuff these days!

Yes, I have also read where a seller refused to open using the line of having fear of an open item reducing its value and the buyer who posted in the end was screwed after falling for it. The one ad I recall a month back said it was a legit iPod in the sealed box but it never powered up. Could just have been a bunk device I guess, but I assume it was a new one someone was trying to experiment with but bricked instead or was a return some took from a store. Enough being posted where it almost would have to be an item normally selling for $500 that I could for a $100. Even then I would question the device. grin

I bought one new in the box yesterday off c list. Paid the money, but opened it right there on the spot before she could leave. It was legit and I'm happy so far. Plan to use it for about a year then switch to the Galaxies Tab. Hopefully by then the android app market will have more apps for tablets.
