Dave S
I was out riding the other day and stopped at a Holiday station on HWY 7 in the West metro. While I was removing some gear, a metro transit bus backed in along side of me. The driver was quick to hop out and run around the front of the bus and say "Hey buddy, how do you like your bike?"A nice conversation followed while we walked into the store. The most interesting part of this conversation was how passionate this guy was about riding. I was honestly impressed.Talking with this gentleman got me to thinking......What would it take, aside from the obvious (death), before you quit riding? This person had a characteristic that would change a lot of things but it didn't stop him from riding. So for the rest of you, what would it take before you hang up the gear? Moose-Hunter
Couldn't think of anything other than "the obvious". I've had to give up certain types of bikes for various reasons but don't think I'd give it up completely unless my health took a huge dump. Dave S
This person I talked to was missing an arm from just below the elbow so he has to ride one handed. The controls on his bike have been modified to accommodate his needs.
Hafnutz
Just stumbled on this. I have been riding for over 50 years. Not much some years, lots and lots of miles other years. I'm in my mid 60s. Still have my 97 Gold Wing and I keep it insured and licensed. It's still in perfect condition and very dependable. Last year I rode 150 miles, this year I'm still under 1,000. My balance isn't as good as it was and I know my reflexes are slowing down. I'm getting close to parking it as it just isn't as much fun. We've been all over the U.S. and Canada on bikes over the years and the interest just isn't there much anymore. Roll up windows, heat and air conditioning are taking over. Enjoy it while you can but know when it's time to hang up the leathers too..
