Boat Plug

The point isn't pulling the plug. I'm not saying it's a huge deal. Are you not getting the point that water is being transfer every time the plug is not put in? Yes, If everyone pulls the plug and puts it back in at the landing, Good plan, but how long and how much water is being tranfered until then? I do pull my plug and replace it every time I land my boat, it is a routine and it isn't a big deal. If your boat doen't take water on, what is the point? Not trying to make waves but whats next? Sealing up your trailer frames? Sorry for the rant but I guess I'm just getting tired of laws that don't make sense, IMO, when there are more important things that need to be addressed by our well paid law makers. Again thats just my opinion. Good fishing everyone!!

But if the plug is in, and never comes out, how does infested water get in, and then back out?

Some good tips for reminding ourselves about putting the plugs back in.

But what I think we REALLY need is a sticker. Maybe something nice and bright in an arc that will look good around the hole in the transom. Obviously, it should come from the State, at no cost to anyone. grin

A gamewarden told me that they have stickers to hand out to people to remind them of the plug. If you see one ask for it. I placed a small P sticker by my power trim button.

I fond myself "Plug Challenged" long before it was a good talking point to try to pin on the DNR for me being forgetful.....so I'm ahead of the game.

wink

I have learned it's wisest to add it my check list while doing my pre-launch walk around.

I'm certain there will come the day when I will need to relearn this all over again. smile

I have only forgot once...... but it really wasn't a big deal. I put my boat in the water, then tied it to the dock where it stayed for about 10 minutes, then drove off but couldn't get the boat to get on plane which is when I realized I forgot the plug. I had an extra plug in the boat, so I put that plug in, ran the bilge for about 10 minutes and I was good to go.
