I just bought and installed the unit and it showed the list of lakes but would not show contours etc. I called customer service and they had me update to the latest software and still no luck. I think they are going to tell me next to send it in. Before that happens I wanted to check to see if anyone else had the issue in case I just needed to tweak a setting.

It should be as simple as plug and play, did you try both card slots? Do you know if the chip is ok? Maybe a person can try it in someone else Humminbird, I would think a store with a display model would let you try it there.

Lastly, it is a Lakemaster chip for Humminbird, correct? Lakemaster makes the chip exclusive for each manufacture and they do not work between each other.

I have not tested the chip in another unit everything else is correct. ( I just bought it last week and had a lowrance b-4 so I can't test it but prob can at a store

I had to change the lake data set to card in the setting to get the contours to show up on a 385ci last weekend. Worked fine after that. The hummingbird does have some very nice features that aren't available on my lowrance version.

Here's your problem, HBird forgot to install the mapping software on the unit. Exact same problem that i had. (Purchased the week before opener...apparently i wasn't the only one to get a factory 'defect')

Call Hbird, explain the issue, your map card is fine. Have them Email you the software update, its about 73mb so they will use a file share program. Download to a card, and install. Wa La!!

Give me your email in a PM and i will forward the link to you immediately - software and all.
