herm
I've posted a few times that my dog is recovering from "ACL" surgery. The vet says swimming should commence within the next few weeks to a month. I don't have easy/quick/daily access to a lake. I do have that to the Mississippi, but it's really high now and I'm not sure it will drop much anytime soon. So what would your advice be about using some local "holding ponds" and similar "puddles" for this? (I've heard it mentioned those are not good for water quality and/or could contain bad things for dogs to ingest.)Other options? (And yes, I already asked and my spouse said no to adding a lap pool or hot tub.)
bottomdweller
Herm, check around for underwater treadmills. I did my dog here in wisconsin and it helped her alot!! Its a controlled walk working your way up to a fast walk to a trot and so on. The water really helps build mucscle back up and its easier on them. If you go to a pond, dont go throwing bumpers for him/her you would want them to just swim around. You might have to get in there yourself.Your vet should know of places for water therapy.Good luck
Acemac
I would stay out of holding ponds due to who knows what could be in there. Head to the lake there are like 1000 good low traffic lakes in your area.
