The Red Wine Rod

My wife was having problems casting her 7’ IP840 UL. It was a little too long for her casting style.

So I took an IP 840 and shortened it to 6’3”.

I incorporated the wine theme for her.

The butt wrap is a candy stick wrap with olive branches.

Pretty interesting wrap. What is the wider band? It looks like some sort of ribbon in the pic.

The wider band is the olive branch. This is a relatively new technique.

It is all “A” thread. The best way I can describe it is while wrapping the base color you wrap the accent color around the base color thread. The direction that you wrap it gives its orientation. This wrap is light green over black.

Rushings flat stick has this same accent but with black and silver.

Love the handle, how hard was it reaming out those corks? My g/f has been bugging me to make her a rod like this for a while.
