e1teen93
What are some good bass fishing places from shore in the anoka county area? I don't have a boat, but me and my dad are looking for a good lake to catch some bass from shore for the opener. Thanks!!
reinhard1
it gets tough anywhere around the metro on lakes because of all the private property. centerville has some bass in it and during the warmer month's with a pair of old tennis shoes you could walk the shoreline south of the boat landing for a ways. also the shoreline from the fishing pier north to the first property line on crooked lake. lake george has some shoreline to fish from also. the river of course is always a good spot, especialy around the loch ness park area when water levels are normal. good luck. LegattoAD
I was planning on doing some morning fishing at both the Coon Rapids Dam area and down at Loch Park before work this summer. There are also some city parks on the Rum River that look like they could provide an interesting place to fish.
e1teen93
Have you fished at crooked lake by the fishing pier much? because i live literally like 3 mins from it, and i have never caught a bass over 9" there. Is it better if you get out in a boat? because I'm guessing the fishing pier area might just be overfished.
reinhard1
the beach is right next to the dock and people walking around the dock may spook some of the game fish. sunnies dont seem to mind. my daughter once caught 4 pound bass out of there on a nightcrawler. i also seen a guy who had a 5 pound channel cat on a stringer fishing the bottom with crawlers. it's not a large area to fish from shore, so if you had a boat you would have a better chance. good luck. bassfshin24
I would hit the river up by Monticello for some smallies. The river around that area can be a blast.
photocycle
Crooked lake has big bass. I've gone there before in the fall where we would catch 3lb average bass in the morning. My biggest bass on crooked was measured at 21 inches. It's a catch and release lake... there's probably 22inch + monsters in there.
photocycle
..and I second Bassfishin24's comment on river fishing... you can't go wrong on the mississippi. Whether you're using live bait or plastics, it's a multi-species (bass, walleye, catfish, etc) game all day long depending on where you go. Hint, target the mouth of creeks or streams that pours into the Mississippi.
EBass
Wade around in lakes/rivers in the shallows. Rivers are great just watch your step and the current.
