I think you can only do an over-the-counter exchange for 90 days after purchase, and you need a copy of your receipt. Otherwise you are contacting Shimano and sending it in to them. I broke a Crucial last year but fortunately I was still barely in the 90 day window, and after some frantic searching was able to find my receipt.

Thorne Bros has some of the best customer service out there, but I doubt you can just bring in a broken Crucial without a reciept and expect a new one. If they knew you or remember you buying it there, maybe....good luck.

Addendum: After reading some other posts related to this, I stand corrected. I'm gonna change "some of the best" to "THE best" customer service afer reading that. Looks like I know where I'm taking my Crucials or Compres if one breaks.
