One way you could prent fishing, yet still make it relevant to business is to do a story in the decline of small family resort (due to land values). Is it good or bad, etc. . . . . Just an idea, anyways.

I like smartguy’s idea. Family resorts. Seems like a unique situation. You have Govt. involvement in RE tax. Land values themselves, limited supply. Alternative get rich tempation to sell, vs. trying to make a living running a resort (most have outside jobs). Resorts becoming swanky, or disappearing. Moratoriums presently in many counties to temporarily halt selloffs/development of lakeshore land, etc. Fishing resorts vs. family(sandy beach type)vs. swanky golf course resorts vs. summer camper resorts. Simple supply and demand will probably make traditional resorts dissapear.

Sure could use some solutions. (Of course, I’m assuming you want them to continue to exist.)

I would second... or third the suggestion on the impact of the decline in family resorts. Maybe use Mil lacs and consider the impact the changing regs have hurt the resorts and fishery when the netting is allowed or the impact of the regs on how sickly some of the larger fish are doing and how they are running out of a decent food base.

Another one might be how to promote the sports of fishing or hunting to the masses to get younger kids involved in a life time activity. The $$ sure help the state since the DNR is not funded much.

What class? Might help narrowing it down a bit.

How about the negative impacts of residential and coorporate activities on Mn water sheds, lakes etc?

What is already in place to keep our waters clean, what is needed and what isn't being done?

Possibly looking for significant impacts on fishing.

The Class is Business Communications. The teacher said business related stuff is too boring. Fishing and Hunting topics would be great. I was even thinking maybe a presentation about the supernatural based on the Ghost stories Post.
