Performance options for Arctic Cat

GSB Ice Man

Recommended Posts

Performance upgrades could entail a lot of options. Things such as clutching to exhaust like rundrave mentioned. If you don't do a lot of mud riding, you could also open up the air box and install a different filter kit/jetting (requires a lot more maintenance). You could also add different tires/wheels, lift kits, more storage than the TRV already offers, big bore kit.

There really 3 main questions:

1) what's your intended use

2) How fast do you want to go

3) How much money do you want to spend

A few years ago I saw a new cat that was decked out with all sorts of after market accessories for a Search and Rescue team. What was originally a $7K machine was now up to $15K.

I have already upgraded the rims and added the rear bar extension.

Just looking for the easiest upgrade for speed and power.

I see different exhaust kits on internet stores, but not sure if that should be my first step to try.

I mainly trail ride with the wife, but use the machine for ice fishing. Just looking for a little more hole shot and top end performance, but I am NO motorhead and do not want to add a ton of maintence.

Thanks for your help

As was mentioned earlier, a clutch kit would make you're current power more useable per your needs. To get more out of your motor, many of the engine mods such as a carb change or a new cam would require an exhaust to go with it.

An aftermarket exhaust and a clutch kit are the first things you should try in order to increase the performance. That is the best bang for the buck. After that try doing some mods to the fuel supply side.
