broken line
I'm likely going to purchase a new trolling motor this spring, and have considered both the Minnkota Terrova and the power drive V2. Siding so far with the V2 because of the price difference, and probably will get the Ipilot with it. I don't believe the V2 comes with a foot pedal when you get Ipilot, and I'm trying to decide if I would miss having a foot pedal or not. Any comments or suggestions either was appreciated. Esox_Magnum
Depends how you fish, I'm a caster and like having the ability to make adjustments on the pedal without having to stop reeling to mess with the remote. Another thing to ponder is, what happens if a remote quits working or battery dies without a spare, motors useless then.
goose89
I'd heed Esox's advice. I'd get the Terrova even if I didn't use the foot pedal, which I do alot. I wouldn't want to depend on a remote that could 1) get lost 2)break easily or 3) batteries die.
whitebassman
Have used the remote exclusively on my terrova. Love the freedom to move around. Esp with kids and family youre not restricted to the bow to operate. Frees up the floor too. Havent had a prob losing or batteries. If i do, i have the pedal stored in the boat compartment. Depends on your style of fishing. I remember one hot august day. Had the trolling motor at 1.5 mph with it tracking in a straight line via gps. Line out the side and jumped out the back of the boat and hung on for a nice dip in the water as we trolled along! Could control with the remote in hand. Just dont let go of the boat! Disclaimer, i did have someone else in the boat in case i lost my grip! Crazy. But fun.
Esox_Magnum
But you don't have the "use the pedle option" on the V2, only the Terrova....
broken line
Thanks for the replies guys.....but can you clarify.....if I were to unplug the I Pilot, buy a pedal......can I then use the pedal and not the I Pilot??
white80a
i watched the install on the powerdive. why dosn't minnkotta just make a t connecter so you can use the pedal also? wouldn't think that would be that hard?

Not clear on which motor you're talking about. On the Terrova, you can use both the Ipilot and the pedal. For the PowerDrive, it comes with a pedal, but it can't be used with the Ipilot added. I'm guessing you could "un-do" the Ipilot and go back to the pedal....PITA to me.
Esox_Magnum
To use the pedal on the V2 the I Pilot must be totaly uninstalled. On the V2 to install you have to cut and splice wires in the unit, the Terrova is plug and play.
