Tree stand for turkey

Typically during the fall season, the birds you see are only a few months old. Kinda dumb. It doesn't take them long to realize that all kinds of danger comes from above. Most tree stands don't have near enough cover to hide your movements.

People bring this question up all the time, but you never see a positive response. None here either I'm afraid.

I've only had one time where mature birds walked within range of my treestand. I called a group of 7 toms over to my tree many years ago. They responded to my yelps like they would in the spring without the strutting. It was wierd.

I've seen guys on TV shoot birds from a stand so their arrow would pin the birds to the ground and were less likely to get out of sight.

Now, MOST of the time it goes like Don said. It's been really difficult in my bow stand to not be picked off by turkeys. Even when I don't move. Pheasants are the same way. Very keen eyes and a healthy batch of paranoia keep those birds alive.
