Nipigon maps

Where can a fella get good maps of Nipigon? I like big, detailed lake maps. The kind you need an empty table to lay it across.

Steve-You are SOL on good depth charts for Nipigon because there aren't any...Here are the sources for other maps of the lake-Best bet for map and local info is the Hook Shop in Beardmore, local knowledge and I think they have a map they have "self produced" guide service also I believe. Of course they werent open when we needed it but hours in the summer are more reliable. the number is 807-874-2527. Apparently another company Chaltrek in Thunder Bay has maps as well that have the dangerous shoals marked and such. 807-577-8848. We spent a couple full days on the ice up there a couple years ago and that lake is a MONSTER...We didn't catch a fish but it sure is a cool area. I will never go again in the winter but one of these summers I will get back up there for sure...They have a really nice provincial park campground right on the lake with a decent harbor too..

Yup a good nipigon map is worth ten times it's weight in gold...

Beardmoore hook shop or the beardmoore hardware store. They MIGHT have one...they keep a couple on hand and when they are out, they sometimes don't get any more for a while.

Nipigon is one place I wouldn't go without having previous knowledge, or without someone who knows the lake. I have seen shoals that come out of 200 ft. to 20 in a matter of a couple seconds...just straight cliffs of bedrock beneath the surface! Some of the locals say that you can get lost in a maze of shoals and never find out how to get out of them! Don't get me wrong, if you want to go to shakespear island then you will be fine, but the good fishing takes a lot of work, and testing the waters if you know what i'm saying!
