T-water
Well I fired up my 30 hp Honda (with hose attached) and it would appear the water pump is dead. Is this something I can do on my own? Any suggestions. I have an appt at a mechanic but it's 2weeks out. Thanks
PierBridge
What year is it.... it takes awhile for the T-stat to open on some motors.
T-water
I believe its a 1999 4stroke. How long do you think I could safely run it without water going through the engine?
Bigtom
find the little return line(the pea shooter) and disconect it from the nozzle in the shroud. Then see if water comes out the line with the motor running. I could be pluged up. I drilled the hole bigger on mine so sand does not plug up the hole. Valv
I believe its a 1999 4stroke. How long do you think I could safely run it without water going through the engine? 30 seconds to a minute is a safe situation, this will give time to thermostat to open. T-water
I found the best way to fix the problem. Turn the dang garden hose on full blast so the pump has enough water to actually get to the engine! Man I can be such a rookie when I get excited about going fishing! marine_man
Be sure to keep an eye on it when you're on the water.. it's easy for the water pressure to make your water pump look just fine until you get on the water.marine_man
SkunkedAgain
As much as I use the muffs, I'm still a firm believer that using a metal garbage can full of water is the best solution. That's the only way to simulate true lake conditions.
T-water
Thanks guys. I'll keep a close eye on it. It's really nice to have folks share they're knowledge and experience...saves a lot of hassle.
