Where did the band on this goose come from?

Recommended Posts

The thing is there isn't anymore to the number its just 619. Above the number it is says "band" and below I cannot read whatever is scribbled. I am thinking its from a hunt club or something since its only in the 600 range and not a USFW bird?

That is definately a regular federal band. Looking at my goose bands now. The top, or in your case the bottom since it is upside down says CALL 1-800-327-BAND. That is where you are reading the word band. You can also see there is some wording below the numbers. On your picture that will read Laurel MD 20708 USA.

Hey Jay,

Funny that you posted this picture today. I am currently banding Lesser Scaup down in the very SE corner of Iowa on Pool 19 of the Mississippi and have several "banding experts" sitting around me. They all concluded that its a standard band but you are missing (can't see) the rest of the numbers rounding the rest of the band. Without the rest of them its nearly impossible to find out the who, whats, where about it. In any rate great capture!

I have pictures when it turned and started walking the other way but can't see anything else on the band. If its still there are Friday, I will try to get a better look.
