97 Accord Wheel Hub/Bearing

Recommended Posts

I"m noticing some vibration coming from the front wheels when driving at hwy speeds. THis is also intensifying during breaking. I took the wheels off today and the rotors look like they are wearing fine and still plenty of brake pad left. With the tires off, I started the engine and drove it in the air and noticed the drive lines were running slightly out-of-round. I'm thinking the wheel bearings are beginning to go? It has 200,000 and they have never been changed.

THoughts??

THANKS!!!

If you feel a pulsation while braking have the rotors turned. Then see if the other vibration is still present.

Wheel bearings will typically not cause a vibration. Bent hubs could and worn out drive axles can also. Tire balance would also be something to consider if the vibration is at highway speeds.

sure fire way to check your wheel bearings is drive down the road and turn your car left and right. if you notice a metal on metal sound when turning you can narrow down if its the left or right wheel bearing or both.

However the vibrations shouldn't be caused by wheel bearings, they would me more of a howl
