depends how and how much he wants to fish.. BTW, this summer, when a guys splits the gas bill, gets food for lunch and so on, well, it is expensive.. so me personally, if I am going to do it, I will try to do it right..

I think a guy on a budget would be better off getting a used high quality combo then buying the C3-2x4 combo for $129.99 jmo

If he ends up getting a used shimano, and if the Shimano guys are are at the show like last year, they will pull the whole thing apart and replace any worn parts and lube an dry areas and he will have a new reel..
