Woman Kicked By Moose

Recommended Posts

This woman is lucky that she wasn't hurt any worse. If you don't have the common sense to avoid petting dangerous animals, then maybe you shouldn't be living in Alaska. Kicking is the moose's best defense.

Quote:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Don't mess with the moose.

That's the warning police in Anchorage, Alaska, are repeating after one of the animals kicked a woman in the chest and shoulder at a city park. She was checked by medics Monday afternoon and didn't have to go to a hospital.

The Anchorage Daily News reports the moose had been in Town Square Park most of the day feeding on trees. The woman in her 20s was attacked when she tried to pet it.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell says the moose is not a threat unless provoked, so people need to give it space.

People don't always realize that moose are not friendly. There is a little known fact that bigfoots are able to ride moose and use them quite often for transportation, much like horses in times past. Maybe she has witnessed this in the past and thought she could get a lift.

My buddy goes to school at UAA and he was telling me they have a short discussion during orietation on moose on campus, and they actually have to tell people that they are wild and you should not go up to them and pet them.

Funny, I would have thought anyone living in Alaska would know better but I guess this girl never got the message. She is very lucky she was not seriously injured.

There was the saying when I lived up in Seward that the nice thing about living in Anchorage is that you are only 20 minutes away from Alaska - ain't it the truth. It is also a little known fact that more people are killed by moose in Alaska than bears. My dog ticked off a moose one winter behind my quanset when I was chopping wood. My dog of course ran right to me and that's where the moose tried to go. Luckily I had my snowmachine on the trailer in the yard and was able to keep it between us and the moose. It was a circle game for a while. I also had a splitting maul but I'm glad it didn't come down to that cause I don't think I could have gotten close enough.
