Rugged phones?

Recommended Posts

Anyone familiar with rugged phones? I'm tired of having to replace phones. My blackberry bit the dust because of a little bit of water.

I use TMobile so I am limited to phones, the Motorola Defy not keen to it or the new Sonim XP 3300 force but I would have to pay big mula for that but it looks like a sweet phone. The sonim you get 24 hrs of talk time even with the GPS it gets 24 hrs. Water proof to under 2 meters of water impact resistant from 2meters on to concrete. I think I just talked myself into one. Just have to wait for it to go on sale from what it sounds like this model was just introduced.

I know Vorizon has the Casio which looks like it be tough but I would rather stick to Tmobile.

My hubby goes through phones fast, so we got him the Motorola Barrage (Verizon). It has dust in the dust proof areas, and the outside screen is broken and unusable. It was supposed to stand up to impact, but obviously it didn't. He hasn't dropped this one in water yet, but if he did, the smashed outer screen would let water in. I'd go with a different brand next time, I think.

Its a nice option but a case I am not looking for. Right now I'm using a cheap sanyo to get buy and would like to invest in a phone that does not need a separate apparatus to protect it. Personally I don't need the advanced abilities of a smart phone though it looks like the rugged phones have that technology.
