GSPMark
My old Dixon just crawled to the finish line last fall and I am in need to replace. Looking for recommendations on a 50" residential ZT mower. Can't go over $4,000. Thanks
LightningBG
My dad has a nice new, big JD. Cost 8-10K or so. He hates it.He said if he were to do it over again. He'd get a cheap one and replace it more often.I know this doesn't really answer your question. Just dont assume a high buck one is going to be gods gift to lawn care. LwnmwnMan2
Start watching the websites that have online classified's. There'll be guys that are going to be upgrading their mowers for commercial work. You could get a decent used 20 hp, 52" Toro ZTR for your money and have a mower that'll last you for the rest of your life. BLACKJACK
How are these zero turn mowers on slopes? Are they very 'tippy'? We need to replace our Snapper but we do have a few sidehills...
LwnmwnMan2
Anything you do with a garden tractor now will definitely safer with a ZTR.I've seen some used ones going for about $3,000-3,500 lately. They'll slide down a hill sideways before tipping over. Seen it and done it many times.
hotrod1
If you are going uphill, they can be tippy. Across steep slopes and they can slide down.
LwnmwnMan2
BTW, I'm talking about I've slid down hills, not tipped. Also, these are hills you'd NEVER get a garden tractor type more on.If you DO start looking at ZTRs, just remember the wider tire will give you more traction, as well as better float when your yard is wet, whether in the spring or after a heavy rain. BehindtheHead
i cut alot of grass on a 60" toro z master, not the residental modle. i have used the residental modles before, they cant hold a candle to ours. they have smaller tires. and weigh bout half as much.the wider the heavier =better traction on side hills. our 60 does twice as well as the 48's.also look at the ex mark. same mower but i think they are cheeper
