I found out I won a T.C. Pro Hunter muzzy, I have never muzzy'd hunted b4 but I also realize you can change barrels on this. Does anyone have one of these and how do you like it? I also talked to the gun shop about upgrading to a AR type gun, would you keep the muzzy or trade? I need lots of help on this one

I got one of the first TC Pro Hunters when they came out. I had to custom order it in with the features that I wanted for it. It is very nice to be able to switch out the barrels and I do have a 243 barrel for it along with the 50 cal muzzleloader barrel. I do like my gun but thinking back it probably would have been cheaper for me to just get a Omega and a remington 243 or something like that. I don't use the 243 that often as I wish since I like the option of a second shot if I need it. I really don't like how heavy it is! Probably the biggest reason I grab my 30-06 or my girlfriends 25-06 because it's almost half the weight ok probably not exactly half but a few pounds lighter. If your not into Muzzleloading I would trade it if you are into muzzleloading maybe keep it but ultimately its up to you. I do enjoy muzzleloading and hopefully one of these years I can get a buck with it since I've only shot does with it.

My buddy was recently talked out of buying a Pro-Hunter by a gun shop owner for the following reasons:

1: Pro-Hunter Barrels/handguard sets are around 300 bucks. For that price, you are very close to buying a savage model 11/110 or some of the other, less expensive, but still very nice, accurate bolt action rifles

that allow for faster follow up shots

2: Reloading a Pro-hunter while in the prone position can be very difficult due to the fact it is a break action, follow up shots are not all that quick (obviously applies only to centerfire, not muzzleloader)

#3 is my own: So you can swap any barrel you want on to it for 300 bucks, great, but do you really want a bunch of single shots grin

All that being said, only you can decide if it is right for you, these just some thoughts that have been brought up by myself and others.

I have a Pro Hunter and love it. Who needs more than one shot? wink The gun is extremely accurate and has great versatility. Upside to the gun: You get used to shooting one gun with one trigger pull, one stock etc. Being a single shot you never have any worries malfunctions.

There are downsides. As said above, additional barrels are not cheap. The gun is also fairly heavy. However the gun is built as solid as any you will see. All the materials are synthetic or very corrosion resistant. You are getting what you pay for when you buy it.

You can certainly buy stand alone guns in the $300 range but they will most likely be blued and not corrosion resistant. Its really a preference thing.

Unless the gunshop is giving you retail price towards your trade, I would try selling it on my own first if its not the gun you really want.

I've got an earlier model T/C Encore Muzzy I like but wish I had the more recent model Pro Hunter or Endeavor. You've got a top of the line muzzy many wish they had. Keep it and start muzzleloader hunting.

you got a nice platform for a gun. I have one registered as a handgun so i can change it back and forth from rifle to handgun however in your case it started out as a long arm and cant be changed to a handgun legally so thats a bummer.

I thaught the TC ecore and pro hunter were not as popular but i actually see them on hunting shows alot more than i have thaught. i mostly see them as a muzzy but a few shows i see them as rifles too have not yet to see one as a pistol. the whole barrels costing alot yes a STANDARD factory barrel can run you about 300, thats the reason when i baught mines i only baught the frame and ordered a custom more precise barrel from matchgrademachine for 400 mine as well for the extra 100 its better than a standard factory barrel. its a great gun if you sell it dont sell to a buisness they pay you less way less sell it to a frand or family member, or just keep it, you won it so no loss there

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
