Marcum VX-1

Noticed when fishing in water deeper than 30' the VX-1 cannot detect my lure, or fish for that matter. (I know fish were there cuz I was catching them) As the lure drops down its echo becomes weaker and weaker until it is not picking up the lure at all. I turned up the gain with no results. It works great to about 20'. The battery may have been low, could this be the cause? I have a fully charged battery now but have not been in deeper water to test it.

Was it possible there was current pushing your bait out of the cone??

be sure your tranceducer is all the way to the bottom of the hole as well.. and be sure its hanging straight.. these two things can also cause problems.

I have a similar issue with mine in that I can only see my lure below the hole that the transducer is in and not my other hole which is two feet away. I think the transducer may be going but I have not had the chance to try another one on my VX-1. It worked in the past just fine and we were plenty deep to be seeing both lures. I got mine when they first came out.

My buddies VX-1pro (his is new this year) was picking up both my lures easily and his holes were 4-5' away from mine. The other thing I noticed between his VX-1 and mine is that when I turn my gain all the way up I don't get nearly the screen that he does.
