Best Way to Free Up Frozen Ice House

Tabasco...Lots and lots of Tabasco!! When your perm does break free you will have a nice target lesion on the ice that can be seen from outer space. You can easily find your spot when you return later with your porty to fish for crappies next weekend.

--Added benefit= The deer won't eat the weeds.

Hello Blackjack and all who have chimed in on this thread. I never anticipated the response and wide variance in opinions expressed. My shack was freed up after almost 4 hours of sharp chiselling, axe and hatchet chopping and steady upward pressure from jacks on the front and rear of one side of the shack.

I did it all by myself and felt a tremendous amount of relief ( and fatigue) whem i first heard that heavenly crunching sound of the runners separating from their icy grave.

I only got into trouble because of the extreme ice conditions on the lake, compounded by the fact that I could not make it up to my cabin for over 3 three weeks. I had the house jacked up pretty high, but the excessive snow and slush on Leech Lake melted and then refroze, entombing my runners.

nice, good to hear it came off so easy.

for those who do block their houses up, always take your blocks with you so no one else hits them while drilling holes after more snow freezes on top of them in March. Thank you.
