the one thing you have to give JR

He must love to race

cuz i think if i was him

i would find a lake somewhere and with all the money he has buy it

and fence it in and say by by to the world

i mean every question he's asked

what would it mean to tie yor father record here

or what does it mean when this happens or that very seldom do you hear hows your car ???/

that silly dr punch is in his face all the time

it has to be a factor i'm not sticking up for him saying he would be better or worse

but i will say he's a very Patience guy cuz i woulda told some

of thos guys to F----------------------- OFF along time ago

i dont remember the press being quite as dramtic with kyle p

maybe there wasnt the press there is today and maybe its cuz the king is still alive

but it's gotta be tuff

and i have to believe it weighs on him

Why should Jr quit racing? He loves to race and does better than many others so why should he just go off to a lake? maybe he does not enjoy thwe lakes.

Just because others believe he should do better means nothing.

If you were a pro fisherman Greg and didn't do very well but won a few, should you quit fishing and go racing? I would guess not.

I have no ideas what driver or anybody would quit what they are doing when they love it and are making millions. Now that would be a brain dead move.

That's one of the craziest suggestions I have ever heard of.

i just used the lake as an example and ya thats exactly what i said he must love to race to put up with the silliness of the media and the same q's over and over

I didnt say he should quit

No Harv, not a bad day. Just sick to my stomach when someone is afraid to point out the truth about Jr because he might get jumped on by the "Ignorant nation" and the responses to him saying I don't want to speak bad of him are "then don't" OR "your ok you didn't say anything too bad" ....Give me a break.... Does better than many others??..... Really ? .. 3 wins in the last 7 years is a lot better than who?..the numbers speak for themselves and its pretty hard to argue with the fact's (see the truth) What other driver would be driving for Hendrick today with that record? he's had every opportunity most would kill for handed to him on a silver platter and done nothing with it. I haven't been able to stand him since the D.E.I days when his canned response every weekend to a bad finish was "we didn't have the car to compete today" Now that's a real class act, you ever hear Mark Martin, Jimmy or Gordon or any of the other well respected drivers talking that way? He did stop once he came to Hendrick but I'm sure its because he was told that's not how we do it here. Still can you imagine your teammate throwing you under the buss like that every week? It's like an NFL Q.B saying "well I wasn't very good because my offensive line wasn't blocking very well today", or my "receivers couldn't catch today"... I think its a little more than coincidence nobody can or wants to work with him. Poor Letarte is probably wishing he worked somewhere else about now.

Whatever. Just more jealous Jr haters.

Greg

it sure sounds like are saying he should quit

I do not see what else this could mean.

C'mon

Here is a NASCAR list of all drivers ever with their wins and championships. Seems even though Jr has had some rough times, his overall standing at 39 is not that bad and many are lower than he. This of course is not a list I made but NASCAR's.

http://nascar.about.com/od/statistics/l/blwinsbywins.htm

Yes seems Jr is above many others along with some bigger names.

Yea, By all means don't talk in blasphemy about baby Jesus....It never ceases to amaze me the credit this guy gets because of daddy..Its what makes people right about the ignorant redneck stereotype. They are truly delusional. Jack Nicklaus was one of the worlds greatest golfer's... but his son isn't..and you cant wish it so,, same thing. The best drivers realize at this level success is in the crucial things like equipment (which he has the best of) and just as important communicating what the car is doing on the track in certain places during certain times of the race with different temps etc... Not just yelling on the radio my caars junk, my caars junk. Let alone getting the car in the pit-box right..one time, ok, everyone is human but as many times as Jr has done give me a break ....OK Jr nation stay true to the stereotype and flame away. IT will make you feel better but wont make him as good as you say or wish,,just watch Sunday for the truth, but Im sure it will be the new crew chiefs fault ....You would think the fans up north are smarter than that but the "JR nation" seems to have no borders crazy

Wow, a real well thought out and impressive post. I haven't seen you really post much of anything else here before, but what I recommend you do, is idle back and get the feel for the members posting here and then post accordingly.

Just for the record...This is a great forum, and 99.9% of the posters here have a great time debating topics with each other and keep it civil, fun, and polite. Hopefully you will learn to do the same.

I don't think I did, but anytime you talk about him someone gets mad.

Nah, you didn't, I was just give you a hard time...I added the smiley face to show I was just having fun. Sorry if seemed otherwise.

Some people get mad. Not me. I can't argue with the people who say Jr. has struggled. He has. What I don't like is the far out Jr. haters that simply refuse to use any logic or common sense what-so-ever in their attacks on Jr., or any other driver for that matter. The good thing is that there are not many posters here like that.

If you read it

I'm not even talking bout how good he is (starting 35th)

It's not where you start Gregg, it's where you finish. grin I thought for the first "real" race of the season, while the qualifying position was horrible, Jr. and the team did a good job all day and finished with a top 10. Considering how bad the last 2 seasons have been, a top 10 right after Daytona is a good place to start. It'll be interesting to see if they can build off it this weekend at Vegas though.

Imagine where he could have finished if he wouldnt of had the pit road speeding penalty and sent to the back shocked OR didnt slide thru the pitbox once again shockedshocked Man I tell you It's too easy, he keeps proving my point week after week .. all you had to do for this race to get a top 10 was keep the fenders on it grin

Whatever...Like he is the only driver to have done either of those things yesterday, or any other race for that matter. No matter what Jr. does or doesn't do, you will find some way to use it to "prove your point". The real questions is, other than not liking Jr., what is your point? To come to this forum and stir things up for no real good reason?

I wish Carl would have been in it at the end too. It looked like he had a heck of a race car.

Hof, it will always go on even if Jr won 3 straight.

Where do they talk about others who make mistakes.

Jr is the most popular driver and for some, the most popular to pick on.

It's just the way it is here.

Hehehe... I hear ya there Harv! Here's to hoping he can have a season worth making the haters eat a little crow. grin

After the last two season, it better improve!

I do not think people hold Jr so high. At least I know noone that does.

People like me would like to see him do well.

I believe the only ones who think others hold him high are the haters or the ones that are always saying, JR stinks.

I posted the link to a HSOforum in another post in regards to wins. Jr is ranked 39th overall with approx 120 drivers current and from the past.

I guess even though he has had his issues as of late and all will agree with that, 39th is not that bad with approx 80 drivers worse than Jr.

Heck, you're fine Gregg. Any references to being a Jr. hater today were aimed at Red Dog, who seemed to appear out of nowhere and posted just to stir the pot. He really didn't have anything of value to add in his posts. I enjoy our debates back and forth. grin

Believe me, I'm not one to put Jr. up on that pedestal despite the fact that I am a fan of his. I will certainly be critical of him when I feel he has earned it. However, some of the mindless Jr. bashing some have done is just silly.

I think we all have driver we do not like but that does not make them a good or bad racer.

Heck, I really do not care for Rowdy Busch but I have said many times, even though he does not win a championship, he could one day as the guy can drive a race car.

He simply needs to keep his cool a bit more and he seems to be doing that this season. After Daytona, he was very good after the race. I could not believe how cool he was in his interview.

First of all, the speeding penalty was a moot point and if there was a good time to do it, it was then. He had damage from the big wreck and they needed to fix it. He wasn't that far from the back of the pack anyway, so he basically only lost a handful of positions....which he would have lost anyway when they repaired the nose of the car.

Lastly, the reason for speeding was that Earnhardt's spotter was using the barrels for the speeding line instead of the cones.

Yeah, I was listening to their radio and his spotter was using the barrels at the end of pit road which is closer to the speeding line than the "official" cone which is further out. So, by the time he started slowing down to pit road speed he was already across the line and busted.

Jr. should have known but the spotter tells the driver when pit road is open, what gear, what RPM, and where on the racetrack to slow down when entering pit road. The driver is basically controlled by the spotter at that point and the spotter is tasked for remembering all those little details, which I'm guessing is to allow the driver to concentrate on driving. Listening to the radio traffic is pretty interesting!
