Drop Down Trailers

ram1962

Question

Ok, need some advice, I recently purchased a Ice Castle drop-down trailer with a few buds of mine. We're having a heated debate on how to travel with the trailer with the cables loose, allowing the leaf springs to bounce up and down, or traveling with the cables pulled just taunt, allowing the springs to extract at the ends. If anyone has advice on this subject, please respond. Personally, I thought I had a better ride in my truck while the cables were pulled just taunt. I found that when we left the cables loose the ride was pretty bouncey.

Not an expert, but - we keep out cables completely loose when traveling. Yes the ride is bouncy, but the house is bulky and heavy which likely causes most of that. My opinion, the springs are meant to take the beating, the cables are not. If you get to your destination and have a broken cable, you'll be out of luck.
