Mr. Wizard
I've been looking for a new boat for a year and will get one this spring. I see the crestliner 1650 pkg is about $5000 cheaper than a 1750 pkg. Does anyone know the cost difference between a new Merc 60 opti vs. a Merc 75 opti? Larson15
The 60 you are referring to will not be an opti, it will more than likely be there 4 stroke. The smallest opti they make is the 75. The 75 opti will cost about $1500-$2000 more than the 60efi. If you got the cash I highly recommend going with the opti. Its a much stronger motor. FM_Mike
I beleive the 1650 tiller is rated for a 75 hp and the sc is rated for a 90hp.I have an older 1650 sc with a 50hp 4 stroke on it. It has been a great combo for me. The 50hp will run about 28 to 30 mph loaded. For fishing it is a great rig. The cost difference for extra horse power is up to you. Total speed will very about 4 to 6 mph, so if you where were running 1 mile across the lake you would get to your spot or to the dock about 10 seconds before the other or about 100 yards "give or take" sooner. All comes done to your needs and uses. Mike
solbes
To get an approximate idea, go to a HSOforum that lists outboard prices online. After looking at one, I see there is a $1000 difference (6500 for 75 Opti and 5500 for 60 4S EFI). Your dealer may have a different price delta though, so ask them to put it in line item form. Or better yet quote both motors on the same boat.
ib_jigged
solbes, not to highjack the post but I see you have a 1625XLSS, how do you like this boat?

Might be something to inquire about.

Yamaha's are almost identical between the 75 and 90's.And to ib_jigged, I really like the boat. Had it for 2.5 seasons now and no issues with boat or Yammy. If you wanted to talk specifics, start up another topic and we can discuss. Or just send me an email to ssolberg1 at juno dot com.
