Reels with lever engage....

...such as the Saltist - are they easy to get used to? I have a garcia with a lever for disengaging but it engages when you start reeling. I am a fan and believer in getting blades moving soon as they hit the water and am wondering if that transition is easy or tough. Thanks.

Ive got a saltist 20 and the engagement is no big deal to get used to. I was told that you dont want to disengage the reel in a 8 to thumb the spool. On the saltist, the spring for the lever can break. Suppose to flip the drag to loosen it up, then thumb it. Its new and I havent had a big fish on it yet to see how that transition is. Haven't tried any other models or brands because of price and a levelwind.

not hard at all...the only thing that gets a little trickier is when your casting rigt up to shallow rocks with a non surface bait then you have to be somewhat of a billy the kid fast draw on the flip and raise your rod tip when it hits the water

why would you switch from the trinidad? isn't this supposed to be the best reel?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the Revo is on another rod that he feels is more suitable for whatever bait he's using. I know I have more than one rod and reel setup with me at all times... crazygrin
