Vanity countertop question

I looked at bringing in a "green" recycled glass/epoxy vanity top in my showroom from a company in California........ until I found out it was about $320 a square foot, plus shipping. Yea, its cool and its green, but.

I also sell a ton of Cambria. Best color palette in the industry, no price groups,(all the same price) 6 or 7 edge treatments standard and their fabrication is second to none, like Purple Floyd said.

PF, are you buying from the fab shop in LeSeur or from a independent fabricator?

since we are on the topic of countertops, i gotta ask-has anyone attempted making their own concrete countertops? i bought a foreclosure about a year ago and have redone everything (plumbing, wiring, sheetrock, etc). i have everything done in the kitchen except the countertops (currently we have 3/4" plywood). i was thinking about doing concrete tops because it will make the kitchen have that high end feel and i hope to be able to do it relatively cheaply.... but i have heard alot of things can go wrong doing them yourself. the other deal with concrete tops is my dad use to run his own masonry business so concrete isn't a new idea for me or him. just using it as a countertop is...

anyone try to do them theirself yet?

Like everyone who is in the business doing them, they had to try them once. Give it a shot. whats the worst that can happen? You chip out concrete and try again?

Yes, framed and poured all concrete cabinet cases and countertops at an orphanage in Jamaica (then added wood doors and shelves). We then used ceramic tile on the counter top. But you can polish or stain the concrete if you like. We used ceramic so it would clean up nicely, and not stain like concrete would. We would also bleach the grout lines when they got stained and could regrout to make the entire counter top look newly installed (when the grout got too gross looking).
