One final lens Suggestion

Here's what iv'e got 300f4lIS, 85 1.8, 50 1.8, 18-55

Here's what I'm looking for. An in between lens to use at Field Trial and Retriever Hunt tests. Iv'e got a couple of young dogs that won't be ready to run untill late summer so most of my weekends will be spent either training or shooting retriever events. Looking for a lens that could be used on the second body for on the line shots, I could use the 85 but a shorter zoom I believe would be a better option. Any ideas that won't break the bank, so I can start to look for something used befor spring?

I've got a Tamron 28-75/2.8 that is a tack sharp with a good IQ. It has fairly fast focus speed, but I do use on a 1 series camera a fair amount. Its focus speed is pretty good on a xxD body.

I bought a refurbished one locally at NatCam for $300, I believe new they are under $500. Might be one of the better bargains out there, especially for a non Canon lens. They are fairly easy to find used since many folks use this as a stepping stone to the Canon 24-70/2.8.

Canon 17-85mmIS or maybe the Canon 28-105mm?

Both are inexpensive,good lenses.
