Is this thing junck or am I excpecting to much and may be new technolegy is better but it seems it will not take me to the same place twice what is a good one for ice fishing would like to be able to get back to a rock pile or some thing simalar within a foot or two. The one I have is close to 10 years old would work good to find the truck or cabin you could see it with in 150 200 yards just frustrating thanks Bret

I have an old Magellan platinum and I was very satisfied with it. Acquired well and stayed on the mark even when in the cab of my truck. I could tell the difference when I was driving on the southbound lane vs the northbound lane on 35. The Lowrance IPro would lose the lock if I put it back on the seat. My new Garmin 78s seems like it will lock on under just about any condition, even inside the house. Tough to beat it, especially when using the Lakemaster CD.

I have a magellan of some sort and it's pretty much dead on. I marked a way point of a large boulder under water and gets me there every year within a couple feet.

If you are expecting a foot or two you are expecting too much. Even the fancy WAAS enabled GPS are only 10 feet or so when they can see the waas satellites.
