Waubay Lake question

Thinking about heading up in May. I have never fished this lake. My question is does it take awhile to figure things out? My second question is, is there a better time to come up besides may. Thanks for everyones time.

We would always go to Waubay the last weekend of April. We did pretty well but the weather was hit or miss. We had a snow storm to contend with one year and plowed out the boat landing before we could land the boat. Different style of fishing with trees in the water and not much structure on the lake besides shoreline structure.
