Exhaust Springs

I had the fun experience of having my exhaust springs break on me today. It scared me as I thought I roasted the engine.

Anyways, just reading a bit about it, and it looks like a lot of people run a bead of RTV across them to make em last longer.

Anyone else do this and does it work?

I dont do personally do it, but supposedly it helps by cutting down on the harmonic vibrations.

I've never seen more than one break at a time though, did you break all of them?

Just the 2 most important ones. It was quite the surprise having the exhaust separate at 40mph.

Mine are like that, also have a spare set hanging on there. Now I know why lol.

Yea I did that back when I raced and never had a spring break. Of course I never ran without RVT either so who knows if they would have broke anyway.
