I might be totally wrong here, but wouldn't there be a way you could use a fluke meter to check and see how much charge it's putting out, kind of like you can check the alternator on your car when it's running? Or would it be different on a boat motor?

The 25's have a 10 amp alternator in them, just like a car it recharges your starting battery when you run it. You really shouldn't ever run out of juice with a good battery, even if your running electronics/bilge off of it. While the motor is running it is charging the starter battery.

I think what everyone is saying is, don't run your trolling motor off the starting battery you won't have any issues. If you're asking "will it charge enough to run my trolling motor?" The answer is NO.

I have a honda 15hp with a Cabelas 24 agm battery. I was in the bwca with it last year and it was enough to run all my elecrtoincs vexilar, h20 c, xm radio and my trolling motor for 2-3 hours a day. My honda has eletric start and that worked great to. I would do some trolling front and back with the honda to make sure I would get a good charge. I also have a pull start on mine for back up.
