Whay gun to try?

My daughter who just turned 10 yrs old won a 25.06 at the I' falls DU banquet. Just wondering if that would be to much gun for her??? I have a 260 cal. also and they make low recoil shells for that. I guess i'll take them out this summer and try them, just seeing if any body had any info. thanks

I bought a 7mm rem mag for my sons Thompson center encore for christmas and a box of remington low recoil shells for it, I was told they are about 1/3 to 1/2 less recoil then the regular loads. We just put the scope on it and hope to shoot it this weekend. I would think you could find some for the 25.06.

Seriously though, I think a 25-06 is a bit much for a 10 year old. I would think the stock would be a bit long for starters.

But a great gun down the road for sure.

My son used a youth 243 for his first 3 years and I am moving him to a full size 308 this year.

25-06 would be fine for her. Iv owned mine for 10years and there is not much recoil to them. id have her shoot it befor you sell it. its the best rifle i own you will here alot thats its to small to fast,but i think if you and her go shoot it you wont be selling it any time soon. i shoot fed. sierra game king 117gr another good round is noslor partion 115gr both great bullets iv shot alot of deer with mine.

My 0.02 worth...IF your family is gifted with the tall gene I would hold onto the 25-06 if not I would suggest a 243 youth. I just got my girlfriend a gun and we got her a 25-06 because a 243 was like a BB Gun and didn't fit her so I would suggest thinking down the road...yes right now might not be a good fit but she will grow into it but with a 25-06 you got a wide assortment of bullets.
