Frozen Zipper - Locked into my Portable

Hello I had the vexing opportunity to be temporarily locked into my Eskimo pop up shelter on Friday night. There was a lot of condensation going on in my shelter with two guys, a lantern and a buddy heater. The walls were getting pretty damp. When we went to open the door after a few hours, the zipper was pretty well frozen. We eventually got it thawed out. Does anyone ever have this problem? If so, how do you prevent it. Perhaps some silicon spray on the zipper?

pack the zipper with vasoline run the zipper up and down while applying it this will solve your problem.

Wd-40. I spray my auger blades with it too after I leave the ice.

If you make a conscious effort to make sure when you enter and exit the shack that both zippers are at the top of the door when closed,then you will be fine.

Dial 911. Kinda reminds of of the Onstar spoof about the dumb blonde that locked herself in her car. Maybe one of the portable manufacturers will start offering an Onstar option.

I use chapstick on the zippers and keep them at the top when closed.

When that happens on mine I just turn the heater on it for a minute.

I like soap. A lot easier to apply than a little azz tube of chapstick and you can use it to wash the WD-40 that didnt work off your hands.

Throw a reflective emergency blanket across the top of the shack on the inside... more heat, less condensation.

I leave my zippers at the Top and have my buddy heater close to it. When the heat rises it keeps zippers nice and toasty..

I use a spray called "jig-a-loo". I picked it up at a car parts store and it works great. It will not stain your porty and your zippers will not freeze up.

I always leave my zippers at the top of the door. If they freeze there, I tip open the flip over.

Resist using the doors as vents. If the humidity is allowed to escape though the door frost will surely build up. Try to utilize the vents and the windows and not use the doors as the vent. Lube up the zippers, you should be good.
