work sucks
I cant seem to find that thread from the past that has lots of good ideas for food in the fish house. This year we are bringing a crock-pot, so if any of you got any good ideas for that, awesome! Thanks
Chuck-B
I couldnt tell you how to make it but a guy I went to red with last year threw together 2 egg bakes that we threw in the oven for an hour or so and they sure hit the spot. Egg bakes only take imagination on what to put in them and it will probably get ate up pretty fast
reinhard1
for now i will suggest this. regardless what you make, make it ahead of time. this is what i do for the main meals for deer hunting. cook the meal and let it cool and vacume pac the meal and freeze. this way you can spend more time fishing and enjoy a good meal. good luck. Harmonica Bear
I have to comically disagree The fishing has been so slow in my perm on Mille Lacs this past two weekends, that spending the day cooking sure helps pass the time
reinhard1
yea, your probably right. i was looking at it from the deer camp perspective where a lot of time is spent in the woods and little time to cook with all the preperation and all. now to look into my recepies and notes. good luck. reinhard1
Herbed smoked venison sausage with noodles: 1/2 cup chopped onion.- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper.- 2 tbsp butter.- 1 14oz can stewed tomatoes chopped.- 1 6oz can tomato paste.- 1 tsp salt.- 1/2 tsp dried basil.- 1/2 tsp. paprika.- 1/4 tsp. black pepper.- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg.- 1/4 tsp garlic salt.-1 lb venison kielbasa sausage,sliced.- 1 cup apple cider.-2 cups raw egg noodles, cooked as directed.: cook the onion and green pepper in the butter until soft. add the stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, and spices, and simmer for 10 min. simmer the sausage in the cider for 10 min. drain. discarding the apple cider. combine the sausage and the rest with the cooked egg noodles and serve. if you dont have smoked venison kielbasa venison, buy a quality kielbasa [remember its your buddies]. i use fresh venison kielbase that i slice while still partialy frzen and simmer in the apple cider, but for a longer time until done. good luck.
