04 pontiac grand am, blinker clicking sound

Recommended Posts

Yo Air Jer, This is Nate. My car is making the clicking sound that the blinker makes even when the blinker is not on. The clicks very in speed and come off and on. Punching the dash didnt make it stop. Any other ideas?

Punch harder?

It is the mutifunction switch. The problem is caused by contaminated grease that has bridged the contacts of the switch. This causes a short circuit which in turn causes the flasher to cycle but not blink the lights. A new switch will repair it although I've taken them apart and cleaned them successfully a few times.

Nate, Pull the upper and lower steering wheel covers. I think there will be a couple of torx screw that will need to be removed from the lower to get the two apart. Then get a can of electrical contact cleaner and spray the snot out of the area the handle for the turn signal signals goes into. Hold a rag under the area to catch the debris. this will work about 90 percent of the time.

If not than the switch will need to be replaced. Its only a couple more screws and its a done deal.

If your still in the area grab a can of electrical contact area and give me a call.
