Marcum 825C Underwater Camera. Fuzzy screen when dark?

I purchased a MarCum 825C underwater camera not too long ago. The screen is fuzzy when the cam is used in dark areas or when you cover the camera with your hand, the camera screen is very fuzzy. Is this normal? I would think the screen image would be more clear without any fuzziness. However, this is my first underwater camera, so I am not sure if fuzziness is normal or not.

have you tried to adjust the brightness and the contrast. I have also found that cameras are only good during the daytime. I was out on christmas day and had mine on. at about 4PM the screen went black and I could no longer see anything. A flasher in better once the camera stops working do to darkness.

It should be just the oposite, they are easier to see in the dark usually. Like Brad said though if you are using it at dusk or dawn none of them are any good. You can buy light kits but that only gives you about an extra 10-15 minutes .

Pretty standard for the picture to get fuzzy when the light falls below a certain level and you can see that happen on your standard handheld camcorder as well. Some cameras just handle it better (they have a lower lux rating).

I had an older Aqua-Vu that had a pretty choppy picture when the sun went down and the LED's didn't do much except to illuminate all the floating particles in the water. I got a MarCum 825sd this year but haven't made it out to give it a try yet!! mad

Tinker with the contrast settings, and the light level settings.

Often it's a balancing act to find the proper balance in the overall conditions you face that day/night.

Adjusting the Contrast may darken the picture slightly but produce a cleaner view.

Low power will alter the performance of the camera and the monitor too, be sure to fully charge it and make a habit of recharging it once it has reached room temp again at home.
