Most of the TV show birddogs are not what I'd strive for IMHO. Especially the pointing breeds. I'd expect much better manners than what I see of the birddogs on TV.

Not that they "are" the "perfect" bird dog, catch my drift!?

My lab is 9 1/2 months old and I use a dogtra 400 wetland hunter and it has worked well. Don't really use it, just in case he continues to do something that he has learned not to do. I went with this kind because it was in my price range and have heard others with good results. I will be using it more with my training as spring approaches.

If some of you are thinking this is too young for the use of a E-Collar, I've talked to trainers that train 7+ month old pups using E-Collars. To each to their own, I guess.
