spring bobbers

I guess im a little confused.

should I have a seperate rod with a spring bobber for when the fish are not agressive to go along with my favorite panfish rod?

I have tried spring bobbers before, but found it took all the feel out of the rod and my hand. I prefer to feel the jig and react based on weight or lack of.

when using a spring bobber is it now a visual thing and not a feel thing? I guess I feel I catch enough fish each time out that I cant understand the need.

Shizzy - yeah, it's best to have a separate rod. Taking most spring bobbers on/off is a pain.

You do catch more fish with them. If you're only going by feel, you're missing a lot of fish.

One Note: Some guys use the line watching method instead of a spring bobber. The line comes off the reel in slight coils, if the coils twitch or straighten, yo have a fish. I know a couple guys who do this very effectively.

Sneaky bobber. Attached it to one of my cheap rods and I can fish as good, if not better, than my St Croix or Quiverstick. To me the key is to angle the spring out to the side of the rod tip. I do this for the very, very light biters.
