Notcho
Looking to add to the fleet! Any suggestions to pick up a few QUALTIY hand made decoys in the St.Cloud area? Resist the urge to tell me to order some or just buy the plastic ones they sell at the huge box stores!!!

Notcho
I know I can order anything in the world but i'd rather just try to pick one up locally. I'm looking for working decoys, something different.

Notcho
*Update*The decoys I picked were signed "I.S.G" one was a rainbow trout and the other was a chub. The paint cracked on both but the chub cracked really bad and was "bubbling" as long as it was submerged. Looks like they were not sealed good or used regular pine or something.Who is "I.S.G" and should I bring them back???
shamalex72
They are probably basswood, I made some out of it and had the same thing happen.
Laska
to be honest, it could be bass wood, OR it could be that when the guy weighted them he didnt protect them from the water and water stayed in the decoy while he painted it then protected it, causing the water to expand thru the wood cuasing the seal to crack open and air bubbles to come out or its a combo of both, but either way the guy didnt take the time needed if it cracked on the first outing and you saw bubbles...
