Cheq bay ice thickness?

Anyone that lives out in that area familiar with how thick the ice is nowadays out on the bay. Im a kiteboarder and id like to safely get out asap, thanks!

If anyone wants to get out New Years weekend I would love to try Chem. bay. I will be in Bayfield to celebrate my old mans birthday with him. I would like to get out on the bay Saturday and Sunday and since I'm not from the area I don't know much about fishing it. I have all the gear needed minus a snowmobile. Was anybody been fishin the bay ? How much ice? Is it worth the 4 hour drive ?

Fishing has been good..

Ice is variable, from Ashland out to the Lighthouse your looking at 12 to 14.. Then it thins to ATV and snowmobile travel from there.

got a bit of ice around Bayfield now.. 2 to 6 inches.. still pretty variable..

Thanks Jim - does that pesky lake effect snow push the ice down or does most of it blow off? We,ve had some slush ploblems in G R.

its got a little bit of wet to it right now.. not too bad.. Wind yesterday kept it moving around a bit and cold enough to freeze some slush up..

Looks like some cold weather coming, so we should be making good ice again.
