Steve Foss
The lower quality Food Saver model you get, the shorter their longevity. We bought a basic one and got two years out of it. Then, when it wore out, we bought the industrial strength one, and it's on its 5th year without a hiccup.
BLACKJACK
I also have a food saver, this one is an upgrade from the previous one. Features that I like are 1) the cutting blade built in, no more trying to cut a straight line with a scissors 2) the moisture setting and moisture tray, makes for easier cleanup. I've also stuck a paper towel in the bag, that also works to suck up the moisture.Whats really nice about the vacuum packer is no freezer burn, you can take out some pheasant 8 months later and its just like when you put it into the bag. buddha
I just bought the Foodsaver silver, about 199 at the big C and I packaged up a mess of venison today and it was really slick. I've had cheaper models from Foodsaver but this one seems to really do the trick.
