Was headed to church at 5:00 tonight, and when I stepped out the door I noticed two deer in the field. So naturally I jumped back in the house and grabbed the shotgun. Hit the larger doe, and she spun around a couple times and ran off. Well, I thought I saw where she piled up, and I went in the house for a few minutes. I came back outside with the flash light, and it was raining pretty good. Great. No blood anywhere.

My neighbor claimed to have seen her laying in a thicket next to my house, but I'll have to wait until morning light. Think I'm going to see if my dog can find her! Hopefully she's bedded down close by!

gosh, I'm sorry, I thought the rules applied to all of us no matter where we live? so if you live in "hickville" you can shoot as many deer as you want, whenever you want, in or out of season? and use a dog just because nobody will see you or find out?

I just lost huge respect for some of the people on this forum.

He never shot this deer out of season. In most places the season goes until this sunday. And from what i understood, he shot this deer legally. I have no problem with him harvesting this deer. I hope he finds it soon

Agreed I hope you do find it and tag it, better than shooting 2 and tagging 1, cmon wannafish, do you really care what happens on his property? Would most of us want a leg lifting, flea scratching, stinky dog going through any sort of deer ground, no. I'd certainly make every effort without a dog especially if you want deer in that thicket, his own human scent likely will likely deter them, that rain should've washed away lots of badness.

As long as he is not using his dog to hunt deer what does it matter. I realize it is against the law but seriously, doing everything possible to recover a dead animal is more important and ethical here. Some people need to lower their noses a few notches.

Also, by saying I live in HICK ville, I didn't mean that people break the law. I meant that people won't freak out if I try to "find a deer" with my dog. Nobody would realize it or care. People do it all the time.

Thanks guys.

Update: Looked today, spent time in the thickets and tall grass. No sign.

Neighbor saw a doe walking through the field. She was limping, so I think this was the doe I shot.

Sounds like she wasn't hurt bad, but finding her isn't going to happen, unless I shoot her again from my stand.
