What Knife do you use.

I was given a Western as a gift 35 years ago. Great knife btw. I've carried it every hunting season and use it when camping.

I'm planning on handing it down to my son as he knows the sentimental value in it. I found one identical to it in excellent condition at our Sportsman's Swap Meet and bought it. Sort of not sure what I would do with it till now. I'll hand it to Jr this deer session when he hes about to field dress his deer.

I've used Buck 110's, 150's and Alpha fixed blade. A few years ago I bought a Knives of Alaska, Alaskan Hunter Series on closeout at the big C. By the second year it had field dressed, skinned and butchered 5 deer before it needed sharpening. One of the handle rivets loosened up so I sent it in to KOA. They fixed the handle, sharpened it and sent me a check for the shipping to them.

The size is perfect for deer, the handle is good and it's ultra sharp. This is my go-to knife now. And their customer service was great.

My wife and kids gave me a folding Gerber with the saw and the gut hook tip. Love the rubber handle and the hook is like cutting through butter. My kids both use different size folding Bucks and I have one that I broke the tip off a bit trying to split a pelvis the wrong way---I keep it real sharp and it now serves as a really good skinning knife. Wouldn't trade that Gerber though.

I butcher with a rubber handled Rapala filet knife and a big ole filet knife I bought in Alaska for doing kings. That knife deosn't come out often but it is nice to have on hand and it holds an edge that won't quit.

As strange as it may seem, I use a pair of Cutco kitchen knives. I carry a big knife with a gut hook, but haven't used it in years.

I received them as a wedding gift years ago, but we already had a set of high quality (high priced) knives for the kitchen.

The Cutco's stay ultra sharp and are very nimble. I wouldn't trade them for anything. (but they do cost a bit. over $100 for the 2 small knives I use)
