Get out early cause that's when the groups I've seen had the most success. Others waited until 45 minutes before sunset and they got birds too, but that seems like a pretty weak way to get a bird to me.

Huh? I'm not understanding your quote. What's "weak" about getting out before sunset? If I don't get my birds in the morning, the evening is the second best time of the day.

Iowa, MN, and SD do not even allow early morning hunting. ND went 1/2 hour before a few years ago to standardize all bird hunting (with waterfowl) to the same start time.

Often the early morning in ND means road hunters.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with hunting roosters the last hour of the day. Pheasant Forever staff call it the Golden Hour. It is when birds leave food plots for grass or swampts.
