Why a bigger PS3 hard drive?

There are a few reasons that I can think of.

1. More games available for download everyday - they take up hard drive space.

2. Downloadable movies will take up significant space.

3. Games you install, pictures you add, songs you add, all take up space.

In the future, small hard drives will be obsolete, because so many things will be downloadable rather than having to buy them at the store.

There isn't to much of a price different these days, and with ps3's you can put ANY hard drive int he ps3. It doesn't have to be a PS3 certified drive like the xbox's hard drive.

The biggest question is why does xbox go from no memory to 4 gig to 250g? there is no in between. and that is ridiculous

In the future most hard drives will be obsolete as we move to the cloud....

I have 120 gig ps3, sufficient to say the least. Not even close to using that much with my ps3 usage. However, since I have not really updated my PC and Mac hd's, I have ended up storing a lot of music and movies on my ps3 and 360.

Oh. And yeah, the ability to add non ps3 hd's to your ps3 is a nice perk. Buddy of mine did that using his old laptop HD... worked pretty slick. He has no computer skills whatsoever and still managed to pull it off.
